I'm one that they lost ...

In December (2003) I finally got fed-up with Verizon's unwillingness to provide DSL sans dialtone service & cut the cord altogether going with cable + mobile phone only. I had been hesitant about the mobile-only voice issues but that's been OK. What hasn't been OK is Adelphia's cable-only service - so this is great news for me: I'm gonna see if I can get DSL-only here in Conway, NH. I've been harrassing Verizon to offer DSL-only service for years.

I moved into a Verizon neighborhood 6 months ago. I told them I wanted DSL only, not POTS line. I have a SprintPCS phone that is my only phone. They actually told me that DSL doesn't work without dialtone. Ooops. Problem is, I am a 5ESS Central Office Technician for a competitor. After I spent 20 minutes talking circles around the 2 other care reps they transferred me too, I advised them that they would never get my service. Hello, Comcast Cable and VoIP.

I called today & here's my call log. Sad reality that consumers have to maintain a f'ing call log, but there it is.

dialed 877-483-5898 to ask about this new DSL sans dialtone service (not yet formally announced) .... 2:02 PM 6/1/2004="Edward" answered & is playing by the book: pretends to know but doesn't & is "going to check" .... 2:04p=no Edward: he just blindly thrust me forth to another computer msg telling me how important I am & how glad they are that I called but I don't know to what division/service/area I've been forwarded to .... 2:06p=more scripted apologies & thanks for my patience .... 2:12=patience run out: I disconnect.
2:41p=redial=wade through comp-prompts & no available reps & pls cal back later msg.
4:19p=redial=stupid comp-prompts again & no available reps & pls call back later msg.

What a waste of life, eh? Apparently it's here in the NE where they are first making available the stand-alone DSL. Their website is 100s of flowery words & glossy pics of happy people but not one mention of the speed of their service offerings. Webform email failed on server-side after I typed in gobs of required fields. About to telephone them agian now that it's 2:30am.

Anybody have an email for VOL sales?

dial 877-483-5898 to re-re-re-request basic info on stand-alone DSL ... sales now closed: hrs are ... can you believe they don't say? Unbelievable.
