If you run the SETI CLI client via SETI Driver and select the
"Idle" option, it ought to run cool enough. For me it runs
up to 10C cooler than when set on Low.

I'm thinking of retiring or switching to another distributed cause that's closer to home, maybe dealing with more immediate problems such as health or environment...

For alternate DC projects, check out Folding@Home (Team Helix),
which has an option to limit the max CPU used.

Alternatively Lifemapper (www.lifemapper.org) offers
a fast turn around on workunits, which would make it a
better choice for casual use.

The EcologyFund (Eco Clicks) project just means visiting
a website daily to click on a handful of links and donate
land (mainly rainforest) for free (paid for by the site
sponsors). It helps the environment, and doesn't use any
significant CPU, which makes it ideal to do alongside the
other projects.
