Verizon Losing POT's lines in record numbers so they need to sell more DSL lines. What they should be doing is expanding DSL coverage. Their just trying to saturate the existing areas, where DSL already exists, with dry pairs and spiffs like free routers. If Verizon doesn't get off it's ass start deploying network services,It could ne doomed in a few short years. I think this is too little, too late and they'll pay the piper for dragging their feet!
we terminated our verizon pots line last year when we opted to use gsm cell phones for our voice communications needs. i use comcast isp which is rather fast but a little overpriced. i'd honestly consider switching to verizon dsl (we are within c/o distance) but i will not pay for a pots line that is unneeded and unwanted. my repeated emails to verizon customer service asking about naked dsl result in boilerplate responses that say nothing. bub
I called Verizon today to cancel my phone service and was told that I could not keep DSL if I canceled my phone service. The rep told me that it was something they were testing and hadnt been rolled out. I live in VA which is supposedly one of the 12 states.
I havent seen confirmation of this on any verizon website.
I wish i could have naked DSL. Hey with Verizon DSL do they offer it as is. because i don't have them as my provider ATT is. So i was planing to wire up a whole new line and put naked dsl on it. Think i can make this work.
