Re: The competition will be welcomed CLECs typically have their own DSLAM's (i.e. Covad). The reason for the testing is to determine what kind of affects 3Mbit connections will have on the ATM backbone. In some areas they may need upgrade parts of the backbone (switches, routers, fiber cross connects), to be able to realibly offer 3Mbit to the masses. It's much smarter to take this approach then to just start provisioning everyone at 3Mbit only to find out the network can't handle it. |
