| Boingo's Free Wi-Fi Connection Software Ok, guys my buddy forwarded me this board and asked me if I could help out. Being a network administrator I have access to a lot of software and I have found that Boingo is the best. I know its corny but the fact is that they have a major money and have created a great product. You don't need an account and it keeps you connected. It will seek about the strongest signal and ask you if you want to connect to it. It will also give you all the other sites that you can connect to also.

I was suffering from the same issue and I have an Toshiba R100 (very thin, about 2 pounds) which runs the Intel lan 2100 3b mini pci adapter. Toshiba does not give you the actual package for the intel adapter. I found the software in Japan ftp site.
I found the software that gives you greater distance. Reason why its not public software. FCC regulations.
If you would like program I can place in an ftp directory if you would like. You have to have the lan 2100 3b mini.
