Re: New problem - No WAN connection - update

...Please post your experience - has the DHCP been fixed? Do you get a proper renewal of the lease at the 50% mark?
3 proper renewals of the lease at the 50% mark, over the last 12 hrs. I never powered down the router; router is on UPS. Flashed "live" without manual resetting or powering down. No change in WAN IP address.

I tried 1.46 fw after experiencing problems with 1.45-7 and 1.45-11 - oddly enough all my settings were retained. But I am still having the DHCP problem. My internet connection became dead in the water only 7 minutes after I upgraded. When I looked at the router's status my WAN ip was 0.0.0.0.

Version 1.46 has just been released, but they only addressed the DHCP renewal issues and didn't touch the disconnection issues people were experiencing with 1.45.11.

Re: New problem - No WAN connection - update

Well, I'm glad to report that so far the problem hasn't recurred. I did notice, that the DHCP lease renews after 75% instead of the previous 50% - but that's acceptable.
Let's hope for the best...

Which version did you guys downgrade too for it to work with CS/CZ/HL/etc?

The 1.46 version does the same (disconnects with that host error message in the CZ console). So I wouldn't recommend on upgrading to 1.46 just yet.

I've got 1.46.00 flashed, and I've got 2 terminals connected to this router (Port 3 & 4). I'm not sure if it's my ISP or the router that's dropping me from the Internet, but everytime after the PC connected to port 4 shuts, down, the red DIAG light comes on, and I'm dropped from the internet.

Can anybody advise me on what this problem might be?

I'm having the same problem. I think the red diag light flashing on means the router is rebooting itself. I wish Linksys would come out with an updated firmware that does not cause the router to reboot or lock up.

My DIAG light just comes on solid after like 3 hours of reconnecting, at night. In the day, this doesn't happen when I'm using it.

I would like to know from you guys is that when your ISP is renewing your IP, does the red DIAG light come on?

Also, when this DIAG problem occurs, power cycling the modem is useless; I need to power cycle my modem as well. Is it my modem that's the problem here, or is it the router?

I have a Linksys BEFSR41 v2 router. I would like to know how I can moddify the firmware. I do a great deal of programming for my day job, and I would like to put in various features, I desire, like a bandwidth meter.

Any Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Wow that's very ambitious of you, but it is a very good idea nonetheless. I wouldn't know how to do it, let alone start.

But if I manage to find any information with regards to this, I'll drop you a message.

It's too bad that the BEFSR41 is not like the WRT54G/WRT54GS, because Linksys will not release anything to develop. It's retarded to see that the community can do much better than corporate programmers (read: modified firmwares on WRT54G/WRT54GS).

I'd like to see Linksys release a SDK for the BEFSR41 router, but that won't happen. I'm pretty sure they don't want us to transform their sub $50 router into a $500+ router like what's happening with the WRT54G/WRT54GS.
