VPN with Cayman 3220 DSL router and netgear fvs318

I need some help. I am trying to setup a VPN between a central office and a remote office. I am using DSL from SBC with one static IP. I have a Cayman 3220-H DSL router. I want to use 2 Netgear FVS318 to create the VPN.

This is the setup I have.
Central Office:
Internet,-->DSL Cayman 3220-H, --> Netgear FVS318, --> LAN

Remote Office:
Internet,--> Motorola Roadrunner,--> Netgear FVS318,--> LAN

The internal IP for the cayman is 192.168.1.254
The internal IP for the netgear is 192.168.2.1

All computers are getting IPs from the netgear DHCP 192.168.2.X

I cannot seem to make the central office work. I need to make the cayman work only as a DSL modem and remove all other options in it has such as firewall, DHCP. I want to use the netgear as the VPN server, Firewall and DHCP server. I have already disabled the DHCP on the Cayaman and works ok. The only thing I need is to make the netgear grab a public IP on its WAN options. At this point I need to put a private IP to make the LAN get internet access.
Is there a way where I can make this setup work?

Any help is appreciated.

thanks
SAM

Re: VPN with Cayman 3220 DSL router and netgear fv

see »Cayman Routers »How do I setup the Cayman in Bridge Mode? you may have to setup the netgear to handle ppoe when you do this though.

When you say I need to make the netgear handle pppoe, does that mean I have to specify a user name and password?

The only way netgear allows me to handle pppoe is by adding a user name and a password, but under the cayman settings, there are no user name and password.

Here is the Cayman WAN config

*****DSL WAN Configuration********
VCC1= ether-llc
Config:
VPI [0-255] 0
VCI [0-65535] 35

IP settings

IP interface ON
NAT: ON
IP address 65.71.34.X
Netmask: 255.255.255.248
Admin restrictions: none
Rip-send: Off
Rip- receive: off
IP Gateway; on
Gateway Type: Fixed IP address
Gateway address: 65.71.15.X
Any help is appreciated

ok, you are are on a bridged connection so there is no need to do ppoe. simply place the cayman in TRUE bridge mode per the FAQ, and set the netgear to the use your static and point it to the default gateway they gave you.
