[Tutorial] Sketching Action

Here is a little Action set I made up for turning a picture into a colored sketch. This action is based off of Sheri's 1.0. I based this off of that B&W sketch action and carried it to a different style and level of effect. I hope you like it. Give it a try and post some results.

Original file:

Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL
53mm 1/60th F4.5 ISO100

Original

Your action:

Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL
53mm 1/60th F4.5 ISO100

Your Action

Insta-Sketch Beta action:

Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL
53mm 1/60th F4.5 ISO100

Insta-Sketch

Your action has much more ability to modify the sketching process. I like it, but it does require more thought (a very good thing) to use.

Did you come up with the watermark yourself. That looks nice... can't be missed or cropped out, yet not terribly distracting either. (for proof applications, especially online).

If yours, how did you do it, if not what did you use?

Watermark was done with an embossing on a grey background in a separate file.. then copied to picture and set to soft light blending mode which made it transparent.. then adjust opacity too desired visibility.. will try to do a tutorial up on it when I get the time.

Please do.... that has been one of my conundrums to marketing pictures online... don't want to pay for Digimark... plus you have to still catch them.

Thumbnails and low res only show so much... other watermarking type stuff I've seen looks annoying and distracting.

That is very well blended and unobtrusive... and would allow online relatively full sized images that still looks good and can be evaluated without risk of people just taking them.

Was the text just a big embossed background you typed all over or is it generated to fit the image?

I actually generated mine on a 640 image and saved as a 2 layered PSD file... that I just open up and copy+paste when needed. I have to remember the exact steps I took to do it.. I am working on that right now.
