The Future

I honestly don't see a future for Nintendo. Most of the original companies are gone, they are just delaying the inevitable. Nintendo will go down, they will be no more. Atari, and Sega both stopped producing consoles, they are now a software base only. I can see nintendo doing the same thing. Natural Selection will decide this ultimatly.

The next generation players are microsoft and sony.

Don't take this personally, but you're a dope. Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Pokemon and their associated cast of characters are never going to go away. Teens and twenty something guys think they're too cool to play "kiddie" games but Nintendo will always rule with the kids and with old dudes like me who don't care about cool any more.

I FULLY disagree. If Nintendo brings online into Revolution, they will be here for quite some time, and even if they dont, they wont get as hammered as you expect. Xbox 2 is supposed to launch in 2k5, with a full year of development, Nintendo's console can be far more powerful due to the fact that IBM and ATi are working on it. For proof check out IGNXbox's Xbox2 article. Now, out of the three, Nintendo is the only company that has billions of dollars in the bank for CONSOLES. Sony Corp is very stingy when giving the Sony Playstation division money, and Microsoft's Xbox division got an initial investment from Microsoft but now, any money they make is the only money they can spend. Want further proof? My uncle is a Senior Project Developer in Microsoft's Xbox div., that's how I got an Xbox;). Now dont get me wrong, Sony PS2 and MS Xbox has a lot of money, but not as much to throw around as Nintendo.

Now, with all things considered, if Nintendo plays it's cards right (and atm, is seems like it will), Revolution will certainly not be the last, nor the one after that, or the one after that. But if Nintendo doesn't play right, Revolution's successor will/might be the last of Nintendo in the console arena. Should the end come for Nintendo, I'm sure they wont leave forever, they'll come back one, or two, or a few more generations later. Sega however, is making more money in the software business than it ever had. But still, imagine Zelda on Xbox.
