I was paying $5/month for the 6200, HDTV only. I am now paying $12.95/month for the 6208, a $7.95/month upcharge. I'm aware that the monthly charge for the 6208 is $9.95 or $10.95 in other markets and hope to convince Comcast to reduce my monthly fee. Yes, it has only 1 tuner, but you can watch a previous recording while you use the tuner to record a new show---so 2 tuners is not a absolutely necessary feature.

The Guide works perfectly for me. I search by channel, find a show that interests me, pick a recording time during "off hours" if available---and have a constant inventory of shows that exceeds the viewing time my wife and I have available.

Yes, there will be better DVR's down the road---but don't pass up the 6208 if available! The eye guides should come sometime later this year when the companies responsible get that work completed. The eye guides are very nice - picture in picture, click fast (forget how many weeks out they go). Dual tuner DVR should be available about the same time, but I don't know what Comcast's rollout schedule is for those. The dual tuner with eye guides will be the point where dvr becomes a worthwhile feature.

Late July is the soft launch of the Motorola units in South Jersey. Until Comcast receive word from Motorola on the next gen DVR units, the soft launch will be only for the single tuner unit.
