Re: Broadband Constant Reports

The proxy setting was modified when I did "Post Now!" on the above post.

The attached screen shot of the ZA registry entries were taken immediately after the post was shown done.

This thread is tracking a serious security issue.
I was referring to the comment nonymous made above. I personally am well aware what's happening in this thread.

An Update: After shutting down and restarting ZAP I am no longer logging outgoing attempts from ZoneAlarm to BBR. Knock on plastic.

Now that you've posted, are you seeing the problem?

Even though the proxy fields in the registry are now wrong, the update request is still working. I just did an Ethereal trace and the outbound request is properly formed.

Well it's been a week now and I've not seen any more attempts to access the net through my system. Seems to be someone has made the appropriate fixes. Thanks guys.

It may be an accident - Zone Labs hasn't fixed this yet (as far as I know), and it may just be that you happen to have not hit the magic pattern that triggers it.

Just after posting I received notice of an upgrade to ZAP. Maybe it's the cure I'm looking for. Thanks Steve.:)

It's not: you're getting the software that was released earlier in the week - they waited a coupla days before turning on the automatic updates.

Sorry :-(

He's referring to a friendly visitor to my back porch: the laptop was on my lap at the time (I hand tame wild birds).

I have a cat-free zone: when a cat wanders into my back yard, I take target practice with my Wrist Rocket and baby carrots. They don't come around very often.
