Explanation from Zonelabs taken from security foru

Explanation from Zonelabs taken from security forums.

Every little bit of communication between the ZoneAlarm clients (by which I mean all those products with ZoneAlarm anywhere in their name) and any Zone Labs server is under the complete control of the user. There are various servers that the clients connect to for different purposes: pa2.zonelabs.com for the Program Advisor, avu.zonelabs.com for the Antivirus Update server, etc. So any time there is ANY connection to Zone Labs listed in the log, it's because a certain feature, like AV monitoring or "Check for Update" is turned on. Again: each one of these features can be turned off.

Now, this issue has come to a head over the weekend, because some of these servers had to be taken offline for maintenance. This caused some clients to attempt over and over again to connect. We will be adjusting the frequency of those reconnection attempts, so this shouldn't be an issue that will be so alarming-looking if we ever take the servers offline again.

We're sorry about the confusion this caused. Again: there is NO unauthorized communication happening from clients, and any communication can be disabled.

Re: Explanation from Zonelabs taken from security

That doesn't explain why it's trying to connect to our servers.
