 | Beware of changing to BS Extreme Guys, I just want to give you a heads up. As you, I got tired of waiting for the 3 Mbits so I jumped to BS Extreme. Everything was fine and dandy until yesterday when my email stop comming in. After checking everything on my end, I decided to call Bellsouth to find out what happened. To make one long story short, they block port 25 incoming and outgoing. I know this does not affect everyone but if you need to run a mail server on your static ip, extreme is not an option. The only way to have port 25 open is to upgrade to business. Once again, this does not affect most users but if you run a mail server take this into consideration. I just learned the hard way by having to pay the $150 to reconnect to DSLi |

You could have gleaned that and the story about the port 25 blocking by reading the FAQ posted in the Bellsouth forum here at DSLReports or just asked in advance in that forum or even in this forum.
The port 25 blocking also impacts anyone who wants to use third part mail service on destination port 25, not just those who run mail servers.
Sorry you had to pay to reconnect to DSLi, but you could have avoided leaving in the first place if you had asked about such gotchas on Bellsouth - these are frequently complained about. |

There are probably others too, have you looked around any here on DSLReports in the Find service section? |
