Actually... that is also an example of how regulation can weaken the development and evolution of technology. Our electric infrastructure has become so weak. It was not allowed to evolve with demand cause of regulation. Just look at the blackout in the Northeast! (not familiar with power grids... but pretty sure that's what happened)
