upsetting....

but not the least bit surprising. The Bells are dragging their feet, hanging on to DSL as long as possible; everyone knows that Fiber will eventually replace all copper. SBC is just delaying the inevitable.
Does anyone else find it ironic that the server the video clip is posted on spits out the file at about 3KBps?

Why shouldn't SBC hang on to DSL as long as possible? With current ADSL packages with SBC, you can get 6.0mbit down/608kbit up for $150 (not positive on the price).

IS there really a broad consumer demand for higher than 6Mbit in the next 18 months? Probably not. And of course everyone knows that fiber will replace copper eventually - just like autos replaced the horse drawn carriage.

Not at $10,000 per fiber mile to install. DSL will be with us for at least the next 15 to 25 years.

Sorry folks, I had to turn on bandwidth throttles on that server. To many streams means I can't download drivers for my clients.

Based on SBC's site, their current ASDL package with the highest bandwidth is their 1.5Mbps-3.0Mbps/384kbps Pro offering.
