[general] CounterStrike Stream Linksys Fix

ok i found a way to fix the CS problem of getting kicked within 10 secs using the latest firmware.

1. goto "Games" in the steam menu
2. right click on "counter Strike" and select "Create Desktop Shortcut"
3. now on the shortcut in your desktop right click and select properties.
4. In your target line enter +clientport 27006 (try +clientport 27007 if 27006 does not work) to the end of the line (see pic below)
5. now just double click on the shortcut to start the game and have fun

It should be using a random port between 27000 to 27015. I run a server and the most commonly used port is 27005. Does this mean that even though you port forward these ports, it still does not work? Is port forwarding screwed up?

Has anyone that plays CS tried to use the port forwarding based on port triggering?

This fix is somewhat not applicable to me. My local ISP has a game launcher that launches CS automatically with their own settings. I cannot change the ports as it defaults when the game launches. Any other ways i can do this?

This fix does work if you put it into the launch options and it does work for me. If your using a 3rd party game suck as Natural-selection, you have to put the +clientport 27006 for half-life.

i tried putting it in launch options for DoD. no go. what really sucks is that not all server use the same ports 27015, 27035 etc. so ya have to change it if ya want to play a particular server...

Please help....

When I scan for CS 1.6 servers...I get tons of errors logged on my firewall....all of which are falling outside of my rule for CS...

That is UDP 27000-27015....

The block UDP's are from range 27016-27035...then there are more servers that are even beyond 27XXX - - what gives here?

How can I allow all these servers, but still get most of ports closed?

Thanks.
