Doubleclick delivers ad-content, yes? I'm not so sure that I'd personally classify it as "adware".

I believe Earthlink's own auditing system does:

"Adware cookies", and they include them in their counts when users run their auditing software.

Doubleclick installs a program on your machine or messes with the registry? I don't count cookies as adware, because even the site I'm posting this on uses them. Cookies are a timesaver.

And if I'm going to see ads, I'd much rather see ads for servers, or cars or baseball (or something) than ads for tampons or womens clothing.
