No VOIP Here

said by from article:

Then start piling on the applications: Voice over IP, for example, requires 40 to 90 kilobits per second per call. For a VoIP conversation in which both parties are simultaneously accessing the Internet over a shared, home-networked connection, even a typical 200 kilobits per second back channel may not suffice. “If you can’t perform data access at the same time [as using VoIP] then there’s no real advantage to using it,” says Pierce.

I don't even have 40 kilobits per second, let alone 90. I guess with my current plan, I won't be using much VOIP

(not like I ever did in the first place, but it could be useful someday).

You want upload?

Check out the MCI or Covad resellers. I have 1500/768 ADSL w/ static IP and true bridged connection through Britsys.net for $36 a month. I think the current 18 month contract price is about $49 a month paying month to month or $43 a month if you pre-pay a certain term. That's probably cheaper than most of your local providers too.

The only thing Covad has for me is $199.00 per month! For 384k SDSL... NOT!
