 | Happening for me also (Kent, WA) It is getting very irritating the internet right now is pretty much worthless with this connect. |

 | I'm glad to hear it's not just me.
For you does it just drop off for like 5-10 seconds have random modem reboots?
What kind of modem do you have as well? |
|
 | I'm in the Kent, WA area and this has been happening to me and a number of coworkers. I haven't been able to get this resolved, but one of the coworkers did.
What you need to do is call from home then ask the 'Customer Service' rep what the compatible modems for your area are. It seems Comcast has done some 'upgrades' to the Washington network that have made some of the older modems incompatible. Note: You may have to go to a second tier agent because Comcast seems to have failed to inform their first tier about the change and they only know about it if they have had a customer bring it to their attention previously.
If you're leasing a modem, you can go down to the regional office and swap your modem, or you can have a truck sent out to do the swap. If you've purchased a modem (like me), you can either buy a new one that is compatible with the updates, or you can go to the leased modem. |

 | I take it that Kent,or at least in your area has upgraded to QAM256.What model of modem are you using? Also can you do a screenshot of your modem signal page?
I'm in Federal Way and still on QAM64 as of today any how.

1 edit | reply to yoshou Wow thanks for the info. I will give them a call ASAP and see if I can get a new modem. I am renting my current modem but I might as well just buy a new one and stop renting from them. I have one of the old 'shark fin' style 3COM cable modem for 3 years almost.
Where would I find where my regional office would be? I'll try comcasts website and see if it's there right now.
***Edit*** Modem model # is 3CR29220 and comcast says that it's not DOCSIS 1.1 compatibly but is 'OK' to leave on the network. They also note that this model cable modem should not be used again if they are returned back to them.
I'm getting a picture that my modem = not good with whatever changes occured. |
