The Coop is a member-supported Illinois Not-For-Profit, and does not provide the usual ISP services of e-mail, technical support, or web site hosting. Our target market has his CCIE or built her own router from a DEC Alpha and free DAC chips leftover from their stints and Motorola and Lucent, and enjoys reading TCP packet dumps in raw hex.
The sole purpose of the Coop is to purchase connectivity and bandwidth in bulk and offer these services to the membership, with no oversubscription on our core infrastructure and minimal oversubscription on the DSL aggregration connection from our CLEC.
Internet connections from the ISPFH are seldom (if ever) less expensive than purchasing from a 'traditional' ISP.
