Re: [XP PRO] Wanting To "Sliptream" SP2... How?

Don't make judgements when you don't know the full story, your assumptions on your part are mostly incorrect.

A. I've been running a dual boot of SP1, and SP2 for a long time. I've been running the exact same programs SP2 as were ran on SP1. I also used SP2 exclusively for the most part, but still did a couple things on my SP1 install for backup reasons.

C. You are wrong about the fragmentation, and you assumed what I did. I didn't have a freshly formatted drive, all I did was rename the folders that were used by the previous install, and do a clean install on that partition. I'm keeping the files around until I'm sure I don't need them anymore.

This is what the "ABOUT" info brought up for AutoStreamer...

Here's a link to a webpage that the author claims some assistance in Autostreamer1.0's creation.

I have been slipstreaming my install discs for a while now so it isn't anything new to me. However, I tried out the autostreamer instead of doing it manually this time. Man! Nice proggie! I made both a Windows 2000 SP4 slipstream and a Windows XP SP2 slipstream with no problems.

Just for comparisons sake, I checked the win2k sp4 slipstream that I made with the one that autostreamer made. Both have the same size and both seem to work the same. Therefore, I have to give it a thumbs up approval.

Just a thought

While making slipstreamed version of WXP why do not replace UXTHEME.DL_ with patched one (properly working with all new themes)?

Any potential problem here? Does WXP installer check MD5 of these files?

Thanks for the great slipstreaming app! Saves a lot of time over the other, more cumbersome methods. Now if you could only add an integrated ISO burner...

Does it matter what LABEL i provide for the new slipstreamed version of the CD. By default it says WINXPSP2.
My Windows XP cd is WXPVLKSP1.

please reply fast as I am about to create and install from it. I'd rather not waste any disc as I am running low.

Thanks,

chris

I'm sure any label will do, I didn't change the default it had, and the disk worked fine.

I tried Autostream with my OEM XP pro (with SP1 on board) that came with my new computer. I keep getting error 5 with disk in or if disk is copied to the hard drive. Is there another work around?? Should I be using a diff slip proggie??

SOLVED: Dont run autoslip from a folder on the desktop.
