Re: USR 8054 Change to D-Link 624+ Firmware Update: 3/28..Just heard back from USR and they are sending me a new 8054 with a new firmware version that they claim will eliminate the reboots. Hate to go through the hassle of putting the old firmware on my current router and sending it back. But at least they are making the effort of sending me the product first.
I checked the USR site and noticed there is no update yet, so I will post my results and version number once I get the new router. |

 | I changed my 8054 to a d-link.
Now my replay TV loses signal REGULARLY. I use a USR 5430 (I think is the model) wireless bridge to connect it. I switched back to the USR firmware and its better.
Although to get it to keep a good connection I must turn off turbo mode. After that is disabled it works wonderfully. Anyone else have this problem?
Is there a 125mbs patch for my wireless bridge to get it to work together?
Why would the D-link firmware not keep a connection?
Anyone? |

 | reply to beos_lin Update 3/29. Received and installed the new 8054. IT came with version 1.67 of the firmware which I still could not find on the website. However, since I installed it, my network has been rock solid. Not one connection drop.
I still like D-link interface and the ability for the router to use the same IP address assignment for each computer. I still might go back to it, but I will continue to test this firmware for awhile. |

 | reply to beos_lin I wonder when the 1.67 firmware will be available. I'm having lots of dropout problems with my 8054. I disabled Turbo mode and tried channel 1, and it seems to have improved somewhat, but now instead of dropping out every 10 minutes it drops out every hour. |

 | reply to beos_lin I created a new topic for the 1.67 firmware... maybe we can continue there. |

 | reply to beos_lin For those having problems copying files WLAN from/to Wired, you should try firmware v1.21b16 on the italian Dlink website : »ftp://ftp.dlink.it/pub/Broadband/DI-62···1b16.zip
It's working very well for me. I'm now copying 800 Mb of files from A-WLAN -> B-Wired, browsing the web and admin interface of router the same time on B.
Good luck. |

 | From what I'm seeing in comments, it looks more and more like the 8054 could be also suffering from low transmission output and signal acquisition as did earlier USR wireless B products. It may be of great benefit to use an inexpensive 5-6 Db. dipole antenna on the unit, in place of the factory 2Db. antenna, and/or at the PCI card or USB computer access point you may have. This is one of the reasons for the improved output and reception of the USR5450 multi-function AP product. Solutions of this type also help to override interference on channels. A strong signal level or link quality does not necessarily mean you have a steady and reliable connection. See my antenna help review for wireless network 2.4Ghz. solutions, which also covers signals too great in proximity, at: »www.epinions.com/content_4112818308

Cyrix6 join:2005-07-03 Montgomery, AL | reply to beos_lin is there any possibility to make USR 8054 to work as wireless Client?
P.S. linksys wrt54g with original firmware does not have client mode too, but there is a lot of hacked firmwares with client mode... |
|
 | reply to beos_lin my usr8054 wont accept the di-624v115_rom.bin firmware file. from what firmware are you supposed to change it? i tried 1.67, 1.44, 1.57, they all dont work. are you supposed to hit the reset button first and then switch to dlink? |
