Re: [Vonage] Vonage work with Tivo?

DirectTV HD Tivo.. not sure what "Series" that would be. But same basic prob of not being able to complete a call.

Simple fix was a dial code of *99. From what i have read, it tells the Vonage ATA that the next call is a data call. Works well now, tried 10 MAKE DAILY CALL NOW tests, completed em all.

Why don't they just build the DVR type devices to work
on EITHER a phone line or broadband internet connection.

Since almost everyone has broadband these days, it would
make a lot more sense to have the DVR boxes communicate
via the internet for much faster updates and downloads.

yeah... even my Series 1 TiVo has been getting it's updates via my broadband connection for years now. I thought the DirecTivo's only needed the phone line for it's first call and any PPV calls. All other updates came via Sat.

I spent most of the past week and some getting a DSR6000 to work with Vonage, on Comcast's network.

No go.

I tried. I really did. I went through all the prefix changes. I called Vonage and had them change the packetization. I set the call quality to highest, to medium, etc.

At the end of a week I had nothing to show for my troubles. I'm not willing to buy an external modem or a Turbonet card to get this to work either.

Vonage is a great service, and I loved the little I saw of it. But it doesn't work for me, or my TiVo with DirecTV service, and that's the reason why I'm going back to SBC.

Plus their customer support is pretty bad. I spent an average of 40 minutes on hold each time I called. Rack up about 7 calls and that's a lot of time.
