I see a total of 4 entries for step 8, I think all the restarting is why the numbers are a bit weird. If left alone to fold all the way through the entry for step 8 will occur right at 10000 but with all the restarts there are several more for step 8. In fact there appears to be a minimum of 2 entries for all but step 7. In the part you put in bold the first entry was for 9452 steps which is between 7 and 8 for a normal unpaused run and the second entry is the normal entry for step 8 at 10000 steps. For a normal entry for step 9 it would be at 11250 steps. If Allnew had not restarted the client so much I think it would look normal.

I think you are partially right. However, looking more closely, as PinHead said, I don't think Allnew was deliberately restarting the client. It appears to be restarting on its own. Some sort of instability, perhaps.

Pinhead offered some suggestions here: »Re: WU progress ???

Overheating, out of memory, green functions or screen savers are the first thing that come to mind. Or maybe too much OC.

Oops, your right about the restart issue. Regardless of the cause of the restarts, I think they are the cause of the funny numbers.

Note to self, reread thread if it's been more then an hour since I've seen it.

Yes, that makes sense.

Hi again.
Thanks for all your feedback. Its none of the above Im afraid. And Im not shutting it down manually.
I will check further and if its to no avail, then try the console version.
Note. Im on Win Me, so perhaps that caused the probs.

Let us know if we can help.

If you are certain it isn't overheating, overclocked, running screen savers and you don't have power saving settings which might be causing this, it might be one of those problems between GUI version and video drivers. You could rule that out by running the console version. Please be sure to use the -local switch since the GUI was previously installed. Install of the GUI places the path in the registry, so the -local switch is needed to make sure the client finds the correct directory.

Since you are seeing some issues, I would also add the -verbosity 9 switch. This will print more info in the log files to help with troubleshooting.

I have never used Win Me. I understand it can be fairly stable if good drivers are available and installed for your hardware. Sometimes, depending on hardware, that isn't possible.

Ive done some more reading.
Perhaps i should have done that in the first place:o
The probs with win me can occur if you are using voodoo cards. Im using Nvidia.
I wait and see if the same probs surfaces again.

Just came to mind.
Should i pause work when i shut down my PC??
I didn't do that before.
Again, thanks for all your time. Its much appreciated:)

Yes, shut down the client properly before you shut down your pc. You don't need to use the -pause switch here, if that is what you are asking. That is for another purpose. Just shut down the client properly at the end of a frame (TINKERs) or a step (GROMACs). Then shut down the pc.

I let you know if something unexpected happens:)
