Mail server problems?

I can't get mail also.

Given the cut rate pricing we pay and the great upload is there any reason you're not running your own mail server?

I'm not trying to be argumentative, just curious. I started running Exchange about four years ago and since then it's been great not have to rely on another provider for mail and deal with all their problems.

Valid point to some extent about server. However, not all people run mail servers.

I still can't get mail properly today. I'll email support.

What is this horseshit attitude that says the provider isn't responsible for their routers and servers, redundancy, up-time, reliability, latency? Why is it that just because you can roll your own mail server, the ISP gets a free ride for NOT providing the service you pay them for?

I've heard enough bullshit about rock bottom pricing! $50.00 to $70.00 a month, more or less, is NOT rock bottom. Why can't a person reasonably expect to receive what they have paid for?

No wonder the telcos, politicians and every other grift artist imaginable just keeps screwing the public over, and over, and over...Why should they stop? The public doesn't really think they deserve the services, goods or protections they paid for.

The beautiful thing about capitalism is choice. If you don't think XYZ ISP is doing a satisfactory job then cancel your service and switch to a provider that better suits your needs. Rather than a tangential rant (albeit humorous) about the "fleecing" of America, put your money where your mouth is and CHANGE PROVIDERS.

I pay $42/month for 1.5/768 and a /29 subnet. For that kind of pricing I don't expect dial-up backup, web hosting, shell or working email accounts. For what I get, the next closest ISP wants upwards of $75/month. So IMHO $42/month is cut rate.

Look Morley, as I said, I don't want to change providers. I want my provider to PROVIDE the services I pay them for. Whether the amount is $44, $75, $30, or $2 is irrelevant. They offered the services, took the money.

I see your point, but I don't want to worry about power failures, hardware failures and ISP failures.

For me the benefits far outweigh the downsides. Those are valid concerns though.

I emailed support with no reply yet. I still get errors using digizip's servers.

I just noticed that their website is down also and calls to them aren't getting completed. ross has a point--when the hell are they going to fix their mail servers.

This could be indicative of larger problems. Wonder if Digizip is having financial woes...

I'm speculating that their DSL line in their office is down, and they don't have a backup connection.

They host their website on a DSL line?

Hey drmorley, check out "Digizip serious problems?" thread. Guy says Digizip didn't pay their bill with AT&T. I hope it isn't true. Any comment, Black_Jesus??

BTW, servers still out 8:18 am, PST.
