They apparently have a number of badly behaved affiliates including this one that tries to fool people that it's related to Target.

One thing I think that most users of this forum would agree to (even us nitpickers) is that there are a lot of sleazy operators on the net, and it is a good thing that their operations are exposed to the light of day here (and on spywarewarrior.com).

OMG......that list contains some of the most heinous adware agencies out there. This is where some type of fraud case should be made. You pay to remove spyware and they are adding it right back in.

Eric;

This part of your statement is a presumption at best. It was not "the current environment" which coined the phrase, "It's about the economy, stupid."

Also, if enough people make enough noise about things such as this, any politician can be moved.

Q: I am still getting pop ups after registering your product û Why?

In regard to pop ups you're still getting, what's most likley happening there is that you have adware and/or spyware files installed on your PC that's causing these issues. What you're going to want to do is download and run AdAware, which is a program that scans your system for adware/spyware files and removes them. This will take care of the issues you are having one you get rid of these files. Once you run Ad-Aware and scan your system for adware files and remove them, keep running MyNetProtector™ and youÆll be all set.

You can download and run Ad-Aware from clicking this link:

*Ad-Aware has no affiliation with MyNetProtector™
A "fake" malware-removal tool, suggesting to use a free, legitimate, malware-removal tool, to remove its bundled malware? Hilarious!

Btw, keith2468, I really have no idea who you are, but you seem to be argumentative to the extreme, and it seems that your sole purpose is to waste the time of valuable contributors to the anti-spyware cause, and mis-direct otherwise very legitimate and helpful threads.

Based on this, and some your other posts in other forums alluding to being a programmer, I have to question who you work for. I'm guessing that it must be one of these malware developers or affiliates, based on how you post here. The fact that you openly accuse someone of making slanderous comments, when in fact it appears (to me at least), that you mis-read their comments (perhaps intentionally so), and then openly accuse someone else of lying, without providing proof, which is itself libel/slander, AFAIK.

The "home page" / "gateway page" thing is so trivially minor, that it falls below the radar of most reasonable people. Sure, possibly it was technically incorrect in words, but not in spirit, and I think that most of us were able to understand the meaning, and that meaning was not incorrect. Btw, it would be technically incorrect to state that homepages *must* only contain http and then the domain, because there are plenty of "home pages", for individual users, that contain both the domain and the "home dir" path.
So just because the URL provided had a trailing path component which triggered a script on the server, does not make it not a "home page", in a manner of speaking.

Consider yourself plonked, your posts are waste of time to read for me.

I couldn't agree with you more about "ringing the bell" -- we definitely need to do that. That's why I was in Washington this past April at the FTC Spyware Workshop. That's why I've been sending the FTC information on some of the worst offenders out there. That's why I've been talking to many others who are in a position to influence things.

As far as the "current environment" -- yes, I stand by that, and those who are attempting to make their voices heard in Washington need to go in with their eyes wide-open. The "current regulatory environment" is the product of a long ideological shift in Washington D.C. and the country at large over the past 20-25 years. It didn't happen overnight, and it's not going to change overnight. But the current regulatory environment is just as I describe it, and one need only examine the statements of FTC commissioners and members of Congress (even on the Democratic side of the House and Senate) to see evidence of that. Indeed, the Democratic administration that coined/popularized the phrase "it's the economy stupid" is best seen as a continuation and extension of those anti-regulatory trends, rather than as a interruption of it.

That said, the "current regulatory environment" can be changed, albeit slowly and painfully.

Best regards,

What about contacting popular people at big sites such as LiveJournal and asking them to add links to this site on their pages, which are regularly read by a lot of people who spend a lot of time online. As you can imagine, the level of computer security discussion that occurs usually is pretty basic. Noticed one a few days ago where someone crying for help about getting phished in an email scam. I left message linking user to this forum and emailaddresses.com forum, got reply "thank you. this would be more helpful if i knew what i was looking at."
Actually, getting the owners (i.e. LJ) to post a security thread on their home page wouldn't be a bad idea.

While keith2468 See Profile surely does not need a lawyer to defend him, Keith happens to be a valuable and trusted member of this forum, and carries the well-deserved tag of MVM .

Well, after reading and replying to this thread, I went to a few others in the Security forum, and I did see some reasonably technically-accurate posts from keith2468, along with one slightly ill-informed one. So perhaps I am being premature in my judgement, he's obviously far from a n00b. I just don't quite understand the apparent discord between him and edburg68, the latter who seems to be doing a lot of good work in the area of anti-malware. Who am I to judge? I guess I'll just have to learn to not waste my time reading keith's posts in malware-related threads, and stick to technical/security ones.

PS. That's a pretty.. interesting.. "bad hair day" icon. Never seen that one before.

Just got referred to your site from a friend.

About all these questions about Net Warrior ending in hop=0
To me, that sort of link looks like an affiliate link used by vendors who sell through Clickbank.

It's a very popular third party payment processor for small business owners who don't have their own merchant accounts.
For example, if I promoted this program (which I don't), I would have hop=bionicoff at the end.

The hop link (as it's called) tracks the referrer of the visit.
When a visitor clicked on a link that I had placed somewhere, they would go to the Net Protector page and get the pop up. And if they bought the product I would get a commission for the sale.

Clickbank looks after all the buying transactions for the product owner and become in fact, the vendors of the product.

You might get some results if you contact Clickbank and tell them about this product. They might pull it. At the least, you could promise some very nasty publicity if they refuse.

Hope this helps.
Good luck with your endeavors,

Hello,

Have you recently noticed that your computer is all of a sudden running slower than normal? Or, perhaps you're noticing that you've recently been inundated with an inordinate amount of annoying and intrusive "pop up" advertisements. The reason this may be happening is because your PC's hard drive is infected with Spyware and/or Adware files.

These are files that are installed on your PC without your knowledge and can be extremely harmful to your PC and could lead to the crashing of your PC's hard drive.

The only way to check your system for these files is to scan your system using our software. You may now scan your system Absolutely Free to check for these infected files. To do so, simply click here to start the scan: unique affiliate URL goes here

It's imperative that you keep a constant check of your PC to ensure these files are not residing on your hard drive. If after scanning you find these files do exist on your hard drive, it's essential that you remove them immediately.
