Re: Links to XP SP2 said by janderso1: There should be no difference in what you get with express install vs. automatic update. However, when you run the network install on a specific PC, it should only the same files as express install or automatic update.
So, there is NO real difference right? If I wait till the windows update download I am goin to have the same problem that I am having now with not being able to access windows update V5 page since the network install didn't help... right?
If so, I guess I am goin to have to start over... format or something.. I am goin to have to find out how to do it. Cause I have a HP pc, and it DIDN'T come with a windows Xp Cd... But on my pc I had a Recovery partition that I made a backup of and deleted the partition to get the hard drive space... So... if I made a backup copy of the recovery partition... will I need a windows xp CD??
I'm goin to have to find out how to do it.. |

Second, I would go to the HP web site to see if there is any information about SP2 and your PC model.
I would reformat or use the recovery partition only as a last resort because there is no assurance that it will fix anything. -- Jim Anderson |

No, it didn't come with a recovery cd, but it had a recovery partitiion on the hard drive... it had c:/ the normal one I use, and I think G:/Recovery partition (it was what c:/ when first turned on) So i guess it is the same thing.. |
