kathan join:2002-12-27 Lake Zurich, IL | MCI over Dry Pair Does anyone know of an MCI carrier that can do 1.5/768 w/static IP over dry pair? I know of a Covad carrier that will still do this but I would like to stick with the same MCI package that I have. Sure would be nice to dump my land line. -- Rip, Mix, Burn Down RIAA Headquarters |

| reply to kathan I had Sprint services (the now dead Sprint ION full rate DSL plus 4 VOIP lines then Sprint Business DSL full rate 8MB/1MB) over a dry pair. My service was interrupted on an average of every 6 weeks by some POTS installer not following procedure at 5pm for his last install on Friday -- and taking my dry pair for his last installation. Service would be down until the following Tuesday, at least.
Get a dry pair, but you may regret it. |

The neighborhood was short on wire pairs (older residential area). So it was necessary to hunt for a good one when you needed a new pair. Folks tried to shorten official procedure late Friday.
Perhaps they were trying to get to whatever Friday night's entertainment involved... but there was more than one, and it was every 6 weeks or so over a two year period. Some of the cases looked like intentional installer sabotage against an early VOIP competitor. |
