Or in other words, DSL was now activated for that line.
I have a new DSL line provisioned in my house, and the modem has the steady link light but I cannot telnet to the IP address they gave me and I can't get out when I'm hooked up.
My reseller is telling me the line isn't 'installed' yet, but I have a link light?! Any idea what gives? Surely I wouldn't have a link light if the line wasn't provisioned yet? |

 | Is it digizip?
I had the same scenerio for 3 days. They said that MCI did not add the IP's to their network... |

My guess is the engineer has been into the local CO and done the wiring (not even sure they do that anymore!). But the provisioning folks haven't married the hardwire DSL line to the proposed IP range yet.
Of course digizip just sit on their laurels while all this is going on.
Guess i'll just wait another 3 days then! |

| reply to bigchris It's perfectly normal to get a test sync for a few days before the line becomes really active.
If you can, have a look at how high the modem syncs at that stage. When MCI/Worldcom/UUnet sets your speed profile they look at the maximum speed the dsl modem and the dslam arrived at and the rate of errors at that speed. I know that on my dsl line there is still some space for faster downloads (test sync at 6.4Mb), but I'm pretty much maxed out on upload speed (test sync at 834Kb). -- Got some spare cpu cycles ?
