 | ZA Downgrade (98se) I searched and didn't find anything on this. I tried ZA Security Suite for a few days and didn't really like it and decided to go back the ZA free version. So, I uninstalled Security Suite and installed ZA Free (5.0.590.043). Now I can't get ZA Free to work...it keeps prompting me for a license key (which I don't have). Does anyone know of a solution to this? |

2 edits | reply to BigHeavy Before you try Cudni's very detailed manual uninstall you can try this:
1. Go to: Start, Programs, Zone Labs, "Uninstall ZA Client" 2. Rightclick on this uninstall item and select Properties 3. Insert a "/clean" switch at the end of the shortcut Target {without quotes, separated by a space}. 4. Click OK then run the modified uninstall menu item.
That should prompt you that you're doing a clean uninstall which will completely remove TrueVector, tell it yes you wish to do that. Afterwards you'll probably be prompted to reboot; then all remnants of ZA and TrueVector should be gone. If that doesn't work, then for sure Cudni's link should completely remove everything. |

Randy, I think it should be /clean and not /close.
The whole path should say: "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean -- Rocky is, was, and always will be Dawg E. Dawg. Miss you, pal! |

 | Thanks for the correction, I think I've given this advice a million times and my brain got foggy, hehe .. yes it's "/clean" switch, obviously to accomplish a completely clean uninstall. I fixed my post .. shucks, heh .. -- "But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." (1 Cor. 13:13) |

Easy way to do a full CLEAN Uninstall of ZAP ZAPlus or ZA free »Re: ZoneAlarm Pro 5.1 problems
If you used the suite beta. There was a warning about this exact issue your seeing. I can't find it now. Maybe it was in the read me.
Also keep in mind the suite isn't the only option. There is regular ZAP as well. Which in my opinion offers a bit more protection that ZA Free.
"To upgrade from a previous version of ZoneAlarm, ZoneAlarm Pro, ZoneAlarm with Antivirus or ZoneAlarm Security Suite, you can run the installer without uninstalling the previous version. The installer will ask you whether you want to perform a clean installation (which will remove your firewall, program control, and other security settings, and return them to Zone Labs defaults) or an upgrade installation (which will preserve your settings). Performing a clean install is recommended if you have been experiencing any problems.
CAUTION: You must reboot your machine for upgrades and clean installs
To install on a Windows 2000 or XP machine, you will need administrator privileges. The installer logs the changes made to your system to a file named INSTALL.LOG in the installation directory (by default, C:\program files\zone labs\zonealarm). In ZoneAlarm Pro version 3.7 and above, running the uninstaller removes all ZoneAlarm Pro files, including security settings."
The "hardcore' manual instructions for uninstalling can be found here as well.

Ok many will see this as me promoting me or being arrogant. But I truly feel this simple Google search and few others like it - would have given you the answers you needed. I also think this is covered in the ZoneLabs forum.
