but to be fair to those sites that actually make an effort, how many Malaysian users have enough trust to use these sites for financial transactions or submission of confidential data.

Unless and until using mykad as a common means of online authentication becomes prevalent AND people trust that these sites are secure and managed by competent people, its unlikely that these sites will extend usability beyond just information dissemination.
