Re: 2Wire 1000HW + airlink wireless router setup t search forum for "setup homeportal"
»Can I use a 2wire 1000SW w/o SBC Yahoo?
»Help With My Wireless Setup
boils down to - plug in homeportal, get registered with SBC... you friend will have to get a username from sbc, so you'll either need to run thru setup off the homeportal disk on one computer, or go thru reg server at »support.sbcglobal.net/register... with 'real' username/password, you can simply go thru homeportal setup at »home/setup
setting up wireless is simply a matter of getting your wireless system to see the homeportal's network, then connect to that network and enter the 2wire's WEP security key from the bottom of the homeportal unit (a 10-digit number) |

I know what the guys wants, but I couldn't get anyone to simply tell me, 172.16.0.1? I think that's the default address of the 1000hw.
How's Mesa treating you, lived in Phoenix along time ago?
Another thing, it is possible to decline nearly everything on the CD, then all it does is hijacks you homepage settings and creates a "connection" shortcut. |

now, like you said, you can decline to install all the extra SBC/Yahoo stuff if you want, or you could just get what you need off the website for drivers or whatever... i usually just put the cd in and hold down 'shift' to stop the autoplay. then just use the explore option to get what you need off the cd.
but you want to make sure you're using the SBC keycode from the 2wire keycode page: »www.2wire.com/keycode as the keycode tells the homeportal who you're connecting to, and if SBC starts offering those nifty optional services, you will only get them if you're using their keycode... just one of those things... |
