 | Lost & Confused with my Java! I'll be the first to admit that I am NO specialist when it comes to the inner workings of my computer. I always figured if I kept my Virus Scanner updated, and didn't download any suspicious objects, I'd be fine. Well...yesterday I finally installed the SP2 patch on my computer (It runs Windows XP Home Edition), and ever since, I CANNOT get Java to work on my computer. I usually use it when I come to this site to do a speed check when things seem to be running too slow. Now all I get is a box with a red X in the upper left-hand corner.
When I try clicking on the "Use a simple Applet to verify your Java Version," I get this response:
"Java Version verification applet: Your browser does not support Java, so nothing is displayed."
What happened? What have I done? Can anybody PLEASE help me?!?! I would be so very grateful.
Thanks! aida toaida@verizon.net |

1 edit | i had this same problem. Download the OFFLINE version and install it. that should fix your prob. You can always uninstall sp2 too its not really that great.
Also try the java help FAQ it helped me fix my prob too. |
