Re: DSM-320 Reception

I'm really keen on doing what you did, because no matter what I do with the router positioning, the DSM doesn't want to stabilize at anything higher than 14%.

However, I opened up the box, looked inside and got a little scared, so I'd be grateful if you were to guide me a bit.

This picture shows the inside of the box where the card is. Did you remove that thing with the transparent gummy stuff and plug it into the location where the arrow points?

If so, then 1) how did you remove the gummy stuff and 2) how did you get the connector to stay on the AUX jack without applying new gummy stuff?

I'm not at all concerned about my warranty, so please don't hesitate on advising me with that as a hold-back.

Thanks.

Well, removing the silicone (gummy stuff) was not difficult. you just have to jiggle the wire a bit. as far as i could see it's there as an isolator not as glue. so after jiggling it some it comes right off like a cap. the wire connecting the antenna is actually jacked, what i mean by jacked is that it's not just lying there on the connector but rather it has a kind of slot it slides into.
bottom line don't worry about it getting freed from the jack. just unplug it from main and replug into aux. it's a perfect fit!
p.s the pictures you sent are right on the money - those are the correct jacks.
enjoy

Thanks for the tip Guys.
My DSM was getting lowsy reception - typically only 20%.
Tested it right under the Wireless Access Point and it still only got up to 80%.
I made the change from Main Areial to Aux and it shot up to 100% while near the WAP and 80 - 100% in the other room.
;o)
Still doesn't play well but that'll be fixed in version 1.05 - I hope.
