Grr

THe internet will not die so early, and probably never will. I know people who just finally jumped on the internet bandwagon and it will continue to grow. Plus wasnt it supposed to die on January 1st 2000? Viruses? heres a note I HAVENT GOTTEN ONE BECAUSE I AM A RESPONSIBLE PERSON WHO WATCHES WHAT I DOWNLOAD. SPAM? ZERO! I never got any spam either, my email inbox rarely has anyone but friends emailing me.

once again, that logic isn't all that logical. just because YOU aren't having issues doesn't mean absolutely squat. the internet is a network of networks, so unless YOU can verify that all of the networks are virus/spam free, your assumption is completely baseless.

Uh, I believe his/her point was that because they are responsible and knowledgeable users, they aren't part of the problem. The same can't be said for the other 90% of the people on the Internet who are complete morons.

whatever! that is exactly the attitude that feeds into the problem...i "think" i know what i'm doing, so therefore the internet's problems don't affect me.

not to mention the fact that you can be 1000% knowledgeable, prepared, and bullet proof...and yet still have issues.

like i said, the internet is a network of networks: just because you think you aren't part of the problem doesn't mean there aren't problems.

And that is the anonymous poster's point too. It's the other 90% you refer to that is the problem we all have to look at. It's great that we have some responsible home users and IT professionals here, but does that really make a difference when the other 90% (your number) is causing havoc either on purpose or by accident.

Here is the case of "If I don't see the problem, then it doesn't exist." A problem does exist, just not at the scale the article is stating it to be - yet.
