buggage : Yes, the A50 does not come with Telnet/FTP acces. You can change this however, and create your own username and password.

Use ICGabe's utility to telnet into the modem.

Once in, type these commands:

cfg upro#1{usr{un=username
cfg upro#1{usr{pw=password
cfg upro#1{usr{per=0xFFFFFFFF
cfg save
do reboot

When the modem reboots, you will be able to telnet/FTP using the username and password you created. You won't need to use the FTP Tool again, unless you reset the modem.

gpontis : If I am the first, then it gives me hope that these modes can be made to work on my box(es) too. One reason that I did not rush to try the FTP reset program is that I wasn't sure exactly what I would FTP over to the box even if I could. The A50 .def file appears to only have one login/pass of admin/admin. My understanding of ICGabe's utility is that the new password is only good long enough to connect through FTP once.

gpontis : I am experimenting with the A50 firmware on an E240 version 5200. Seems to be working OK in terms of the web interface and DSL link.

I cannot log into the modem using telnet, and I also cannot connect via FTP. Telnet asks for login/password, but nothing that I know to put in is accepted. FTP rejects any login name that I have tried before it even gets to asking for a password.

I have tried entering new profiles and enabling everything. Also, I have tried the direct access with "http://192.168.254.254/pfwizardj.cgi?code=EDIT&id=prof1&retain=f".

Is it possible that telnet and FTP are not supported in this firmware ? (That would be dissappointing...)
