Re: BT slowdowns quote: ShawInsider, don't worry, your IP isn't public and there's no way Shaw can find out your IP from posting here unless they have a court order against DSLReports/BroadbandReports (which i seriously doubt will happen). Keep posting, your help is appreciated.
Don't put it past Shaw to break any laws regarding "getting" their employees. They tend to pull out all the stops to achieve their end means. This is how they present the appearance of everything running smoothly, as they will make any individuals life hell if they should say anything other than what SHAW feels you need to know. |

This is how they present the appearance of everything running smoothly, as they will make any individuals life hell if they should say anything other than what SHAW feels you need to know. About the only ways Shaw can find out who this person is 1. check which IPs of theirs were accessing BBR at the time of the post (probably a few IPs). Then they could cross reference that with the IPs all of their employees had at the time in question. A sizeable job to say the least. or 2. the court order route, good luck too as they don't have much of a good reason to have that info released to them.
But yea, ShawInsider... please keep posting up info as it comes available to you. But only if you're comfortable with doing so, we all need a job so don't risk yours if you don't want to.
There are a couple of options open to you here, you can either quit posting the info. Keep posting as you were. register with the site and IM info to anyone here that's willing to post for you (I would and you have my word that I won't rat you out to anyone). -- Join BroadbandReports.com's SETI@Home Team Don't let your computer's idle time go to waste! |

They can kill p2p if they like...but shouldn't they at least let us know?
switching ISP anyway...I'm finished with shaw |

 | reply to will2k Yeah, if I hadn't bought the modem I'd been @ Telus's doorstep right now. Samller files under 200 meg seem to download @ semi-decent rates, but anything over that dog's @ 2-5 with a small jump to 15 for a few seconds...... |
|
 | reply to will2k yea just think about this kiddies where do bit torrents come from umm other people computers so when 100 jump on a connection of course it will be slow, and even if you get on 20 connections how many other kiddies are steal off the internet,
Learn to use newgroups and download from a real server not someone 128kb/s line. |
|
 | You really don't know much about BT do you?
I've been able to max out my connection (600+ kB/s) on BT. |
|
 | reply to will2k so have i 4.5 Mbits but you have to have like 100 seeds it has nothing to do with the shaw network perhaps you know nothing about TCP/IP |
|
 | Your ignorance is astounding. |
|
 | reply to will2k example? |
|
 | reply to will2k First of all you don't need a lot of seeds. You download from peers as well.
Second of all a shaw employee has stated in this thread that it IS shaw causing this. If you had bothered to read anything here you would see that we have eliminated pretty much any other cause, and his post confirmed this. |

M-H @shawcable.net | reply to will2k So how do you get around this?
The min-max port changing doesn't seem to be working.... |
|
 | reply to will2k The only way to get around it is to go to another provider. I don't know about 3web (supposedly shaw), but it looks tempting, since it's basically shaw minus all the restrictions.
I don't even know if their upgraded service (they've been pushing the $10 "upgrade" pretty hard (small business and/or extreme... shaw's web site doesn't really elaborate) is any good. I won't upgrade if it's more of the same.
And I used to *like* shaw, given my reviews. Now they just get worse and worse. |

 | Hi, I'm in the North Van area, and I am still able to get 350kBps downloads through BT.
BUT, my upload is capped around at 6kBps.... |
|
 | reply to will2k i dont even know how you got that speed with that shitty upload, argh...i can't even get over 10KB/s download |
|
 | reply to Oblisk87 hmm, I'm seeding all my 3 torrents, and I'm uploading at 110+kBps..... Hmm..
And yes, I'm on i-Extreme |

Re: BT slowdowns quote: Cost to fix: $2 to $3 million.
Shaws been bragging about having 1 Million Internet subs. One million subs at $40 minimum per month = $40 million a month in revenues and thats just Internet. Just under HALF a BILLION dollars a year (more if you include x-treme rates!) and they're too cheap to fix it!...or do they think as consumers were too stupid to see this?...and your not peed off enough yet?? |
