 | Lingo requires you to use its analog terminal adapter. It isn't a dlink, by the way. Dlink makes routers and switches.

 | Actually, DLink does make ATAs as well.

Only Lingo's ATAs are Lingo compatible, I don't now how he ordered Lingo without the device since you pay for it in the activation fee. |

 | The DLink listed above can be purchased at retail outlets. That is what the link adworld submitted is referring to. These DLinks can be registered when creating an account, using their MAC address.
It still must be lingo approved hardware. The DLink specifically is lingo approved... |

 | reply to gagans2k I've never heard of lingo offering a BYOD (bring your own device plan) (except for the DLink partnership). Sorry i can't help with settings. |

you are correct |

 | reply to gagans2k I haven't seen the DLink, but Lingo's approach is to send the ATA first to a provisioning server from which all the settings are downloaded. Among the downloaded files is an encrypted file that includes your account login and password, a supervisor password for your particular box, and a setting for the box to provision itself every 24 hours and with each boot-up. Users are not given the supervisor password, so they cannot see their account login information. In the case of the AzaCall and UTStarcom boxes, there is no easy way to reset the device to factory defaults, so the ATA is not very useful if you terminate your Lingo account. Since the DLink is purchased at retail, I suspect that it can be reset to factory defaults. |
