Ethernet or PPPoE?

Ok, I'm sure this has been asked before here, but I can't find it. Does GTE use straight DHCP Ethernet, or PPPoE? I hate installing internet connection software and don't want to install anything off my GTE setup disc if I don't have to. If it's ethernet, I shouldn't have to, right?

PPPoe as far as I know. I havent seen DHCP yet, but I could be wrong. heck if you have a GTE setup disc that would suggest it has some kind of dial-up software. I have GTE line, but Earthlink ISP and they use WinPoet, maybe GTEi does the same.

GTE use standard DHCP with no authentication. If you get your line through Earthlink/GTE, then you will use PPPoE for authentication purposes.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, you are correct. Just like plugging right into a network.
