How do you like it? Which X40 did you get (ie. Express Model? Educational model? etc.)? How's the battery life on that thing?

Here some detail stuff for my laptop.

It's IBM Thinkpad X40 23866UU

CPU: Intel Pentium M 1.2 GHz(400FSB)
Display: 12.1" XGA TFT(1024x768)
OS: Windows XP Pro
Memory: 760MB PC2700
Graphics: Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (64mb)
HD: 40GB
Optical Device: CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo
Communications: 56K Modem, 10/100/1000 LAN, Wireless 802.11b
Ports: 2 x USB,1 x LPT,1 x PCMCIA,Infrared port
Dimensions: 0.9" x 10.5" x 9.32"
Weight: 3.2 lbs
Maximum Battery Life: 5-7Hour with one 8 cell battery with all low settings
Minimum Battery Life: 4-5Hour with one 8 cell battery with all max settings

So far, I love it. Sexy, easy to carry around, and a fine performance for normal apps.

Usually people never post bad things about their stuff but I am going to be honest with people in this forum since I love this place!

Here are some PRO/CON for my laptop.

PRO:
-Excellent battery life.
-Insanly good keyboard!
-Very nice screen also.
-Small and light.
-Think Light. It lights your keyboard on dark environment.
-Excellent for show-off/brag.

CON:
-Integrated video card = Crap.
-Slow/small 40GB hard-drive 4200rpm. Because it's 1.8inch hard-drive which Ipod uses.
-Slow booting speed because of all IBM utilities. Yes without em, it's hell lot faster.
-Expensive. 2k

You might wonder why the hell do you pay 2k for this kind of laptop. Yes, that's very true in some way. That's what I was thinking at first place. And I had a lot of mixed feeling after I got my laptop. But rethinking about why I brought this laptop make myself very proud of my decision.

X40 is not for everybody. Gamers should stay away from it. IBM, International Business Machines (I think that's what is stands for)is for strictly for business and not for gaming. I guess you can play game all you want in T40 series.

X40 is designed to be smallest and lightest laptop and for traveler who needs small and light laptop with excellent battery life and durability. I use it for my school works and others for entertainment purposes. I was also thinking about Fujitsu P7000 series and Sony Vaio TR series because of build-in optical drives and easier and cheaper upgrade options but I really didn't liked their quality of laptop. It keep reminds me of the review where it says they are like plastic toy while IBM is like Mercedes laptop.

Although IBM Thinkpad X40 is not a perfect ultraportable laptop but it's still an outstanding and one of the best ultraportable you can get these days.

Thank you.

About the screen, no it doesn't bother me. Beside, even keyboard is full size and it's one of the best quality keyboard I ever used.

Of course it feels smaller if you have looked 19inch LCD and come back and look at 12-inch screen LCD but it's still very easy on my eyes. It also have a feature to magnify very easily by pretty Fn + Space. Although I never needed to use it but it seems very useful feature.

The best features are automatic hard-drive park and Thinklight which lights your keyboard at dark.

Take a look in here for more details and videos:

Also feel free to take a look at legends of Thinkpads. It's pretty cool
