 | More bloatware from Symantec? Symantec have announced today that they are buying out Veritas.
quote: (AP) Computer security giant Symantec Corp. has agreed to buy the storage and backup program maker Veritas Software Corp. for about $13.5 billion in stock in a deal that would create a massive software company that provides a wide range of programs to secure and protect networks and computers.
Does this mean that next year's NIS will also include the Vertitas backup engine?
I used to like Veritas Backup MyPC. I suppose that this is another product that will disappear (like Partition Magic). |

 | Symantec has been buying other software companies since the start. Their last big bite before this was Powerquest. They probably thought it was cheaper to buy Powerquest rather than upgrade Ghost 2003 to compete with the likes of Acronis True Image. That is why Ghost 9 is the Powerquest product re badged. |

 | reply to Glen T I heard Symantec had purchased Veritas, but my guess is that it'll be offered as a standalone product and not part of NIS. |

Take that big old Symantec bashing bat and knock over your Christmas tree if it'll make you feel better!
From those of us who use Symantec apps and are happy with 'em: have a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and blessed New Year! (That's really a heartfelt sentiment, folks! I realize not everyone likes every product. I just get tired of hearing so many people saying that Symantec products are the cyber version of the Anti-Christ!) |

| reply to Glen T Aaron, Symantec does not yet have an Anti-Trojan product in its fold. One never knows where they may look....
TDS, BOClean, TH?
Will the TH blue and Symantec yellow merge to make us all green with envy?
