Re: www.torrentbits.org Was Closed ? The fact that the server is still able to be pinged makes me wonder what it is that is really going on. I mean, you figure if they got busted the server would be gone, but it seems as though it isn't. The Call of Duty and IRC servers are both still there and completely online as well. |

Don't know much about the COD server. Never accessed it. I did hear that the Teamspeak server is still up as well, but cannot verify this as I don't know the address.
These are all good signs. Perhaps we will know something definitive before long.

 | I dont like speculating but it seems that they decided to shut down TB temporarily
This days have been very hard for the scene, I really wouldnt like to see such a great site dying like that..that was by far the best way to share files
Many users spent their time or that site, mantaining a 1:1 ratio or more, collaborating etc
Lets just hope that it will be back up soon and that users will continue supporting such an amazing site |

 | reply to MrPatryk I just accessed the irc server and logged into the channel #torrentbits....i'll lurk around there for a while... -- Thus Spoke Ressentiment Blog: http://genealogyof.blogspot.com |

 | reply to MrPatryk Whilst lurking, I found this out:
Temporary TorrentBits Forum @ »torrentbits.no-ip.org/
Registered, and I'm amking my way through all the specualtion and discussions.....
I WILL find out why my favorite site ever has been taken offline! -- Thus Spoke Ressentiment Blog: http://genealogyof.blogspot.com |

 | reply to MrPatryk Aight, last post until something actually happens...
Incase you dont want to read through the temp forums....According to StormLord(Moderator trying to sort this all out), Redbeard(Owner/Admin/Creator/God of TB) has taken the site down for an unknown reason. However it's NOT because of a raid, and NOT because of technical problems.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.... -- Thus Spoke Ressentiment Blog: http://genealogyof.blogspot.com |

Firstly, I have to say, I am extremely dissapointed with the response from some of the members of the TB community. Scare-mongering and spreading rumours is not the most helpful thing to do in a situation like this! I know everyone is unhappy about it, but don't burn your bridges with insults or by playing the blame game!
Secondly, I am extremely delighted with the reponse form some of the members of the TB community. Members like DeeJee, and Warlok, who are trying to keep us all together, to get the correct information out. There are probably more that I don't know about yet.... and all those working behind the scenes.... Thanks guys
OK lets get down to it. A few facts:- - I am extremely sad to report, that I have just found out that, TB, as we know it, is DEAD. - The full reason why Rb choose to close down is still not yet known - Rb was "on holiday" when the site went down, and is in no position to put it back up again, or explain anything, until he gets back - There was a Ddos attack - After the site went down!
One more fact:- Nobody, REPEAT, nobody, except Redbeard knows what Redbeard is planning to do.
Keep watching torrentbits.org for a statement. It's the ONLY place to get the full facts

 | I couldn't agree with SlickS's post more. At least show Rb some respect by having patience. I'm sure the truth will surface soon. Until then, keep your pants on. |
|
 | reply to SlickS Can somebody post the IRC adress of Dvdr-core.org, please? |
|
 | I am with Johann, If anybody has their IRC address please post it. I want to try and see whats going on. |
|
 | It's safe to say they are gone if there are no bites after 3 days. There was an ominous thread about being raided and how the site should absolve before they were next.
I just hope they had a chance to purge the records of IPs connecting to it. If not, Kevin Costner is going to be pissed at me. |
|
 | bah, it was (?) a fantastic site and community |
|
 | This is a great loss, TB was my second home
Who knows maybe Redbear will decide to reopen the site later on but I think the uploaders and many others will move to another site
To all you reading this, TB is what a Bittorrent tracker should be, I hope all of you follow their great example
Enforcing a ration system is a great idea to keep the torrents alive and with decent speeds |
