Re: AirLink 108mbps router I must be the lucky ones here. Using Airlink AP410W and Dlink DI-624 without SUPERG. I don't have reboot problems like some of you guys here do. I'm also using Airlink AP411 in client mode and it seems pretty solid. What I did when I first got this router and access point is get some copper memory heatsink which is about $12 at Fry's. Each package will cover 2 router. I think it helps cools it down and run more stable. |

TsumePremium join:2004-02-23 Johnson City, TN | I'll just let you know that I ran a large fan on the Airlink with the cover off and it didn't help the problem at all.
Apparently a major cause of reboots with this router is a flow of bad chi. I need to find a Feng Shui expert ASAP. |

 | reply to Tsume hmmm I don't know if this is just "luck" or if it really helped . but I turned off the WEP encryption and it seem to help with the disconnects. . . . instead of every 5 minutes its more like 3 times a day. Is any one else having the disconnect problems only with the Wired lan part of the router? I don't seem to notice any disconnects on the wired side.
I am still wondering if I should Take back the wireless router and just hook up the good ol d-link wired router....or to try and wait for a new firmware version to come out...oh well I guess its my $27.00 let me know what you guys think

 | I will take that as a yes |

 | reply to TehTechguy www.kcorplifestyle.com is web site suggested to use for new firmware download ... is UK version of same unit. download and flash new firmware for the "G" version of there 108 wireless router. |

jromanecPremium join:2005-03-12 Chicago, IL | Have you noticed that the firmware from kcorp dropped static super g mode speed and my connection never seems to go above 54 mbps in dynamic. XR mode also doesn't seem to extend my range. still 48% signal strenght. |

 | reply to Paldo You must be wrong. The DWL-7100AP is "TRI-MODE" ie. 802.11a/b/g 8(2.4GHz & 5.GHz); while the AirLink AP411W is only 802.11b/g (2.4GHz). Also, while I have not seen the interior components of the DWL-7100AP, I have seen the interior components of both the AP411W and the DWL-2100 - they are absolutely identical, right down to the FCC-ID, the only exception is that D-Link went cheap by only providing one exterior antenna connector, with the second being an interior quarter-wave antenna - frankly, on this point, AirLink made the better decision by providing two exterior connectors. |

 | reply to Tsume hi guys i sort of followed this thread..
I have a very buggy (actually a couple of these) AP411W's
i want to run as either clients or ap's
but none of my wireless devices want/can connect to these ap's
then i read that i could update the firmware by using the surecom or the kcorp.. so i tried to do that from the airlink and it tells me the firmware is the wrong format or something like that.
how exactly did you guys update your firmwares..
if you didn't update this firmware how can i get these suckers to atleast work (not seeing any better firmwares.. mine is still version 1.0)
also is your 802.11g setting (the one that's supposed to let you choose between b/g) all greyed out. cause mine are.. and that doesn't feel right..
thanks again for the info ahead of time |
|
 | I just got a airlink 410 router.. fw is great, except the misspellings like "dectecting.." I'm going to upgrade to kcorp fw from what i hear seems to be the best.. i personally think this is a great deal for 28$ (frys) as long as i dont get the d/c like you others.. |

 | reply to Tsume WOW. Thank you guys. I just flashed the KCORP 1.6.6 firmware on my "Trust Speedshare Pro Wireless 108 Mbs" and works very well!
Now seems that the previous continuous resets that occurred are vanished! Also emule works very well (even Kad).
Keep me informed if new version are out!:)
Thanks (and sorry for my english! i'm italian..):) |

| FYI, Airlink has 1.6.6 on their site now.
Could anyone with the knowledge edit the 2.52b60 Dlink di624 firmware to work on the Airlink router? I had the edited 2.50 firmware, but when I try the steps that were listed to change the checksum on 2.52, it still gives me crap about checksum isnt correct or something. Could someone, preferably the same person(s) who posted working modded 2.50 for the Airlink router, do the same for 2.52b60? Don't tell me I'm doing it wrong if you know how, because it will take you less time to change it yourself and attach it than it will to get me to figure out how to do it right.
Thanks!
If you are wondering, our school's wireless is out, the admin for it is a retard, so I'm going to bring my own router and use it as an AP. I'd like the DLink firmware on it =P |

isepiq join:2004-04-22 El Cajon, CA | OK, according the the support section of KCorp, this is caused by interference on the wireless channel you are using. You should be able to fix this by changing the channel. HOWEVER, SuperG Turbo Mode DEFAULTS to channel 6 ONLY!!! So everyone within your range that does the same, interferes with your signal, and yours with them! If you take it OUT of SuperG Turbo mode, you can choose one of the other channels and find one that is better in your area. They also stated that some lighting, remotes, wireless phones and other stuff can cause this disconnect problem. Changing the channel is the only solution provided that I can find so far???
Hope this is of some help to others.

| reply to Tsume That's no excuse for the whole router to reboot
FYI, super-g centers on channel 6 and then uses bandwidth from most/all the surrounding channels... that's why you can't change it, because it isn't just on channel 6 |

This mode uses both sides of the band, roughly channel 3 (1-5) and channel 9 (7-11). It will back off of one side or the other, adapting to the neighborhood interference.
Super G will adapt to regular 802.11g users, but not the other way around. This isn't a criticism, since Super G is trying to make use of twice of the bandwidth than normal 802.11g. -- Robb Topolski http://www.funchords.com/ Hillsboro, Oregon USA |

isepiq join:2004-04-22 El Cajon, CA | Ok, finally had to put my Airlink+ (Plus) Router back on for the hard wired computers. Am using the Airlink101 SuperG as a wirless access point. Linked the 2 routers as per instructions on Linksys & Airlink web sites. Works great. Appears that the WAN port was doing the random disconnects, AND I was getting dialup speeds. Now my hardwired computes and my wireless computers get NO more disconnects, and all are back up to blazing fast speeds. There is some kind of problem with the WAN link of the 101 SuperG. I saw posts on the problem all over the internet. Firmware does NOT fix this. Using ONLY the wireless part and its LAN ports, it works great. Do NOT buy this one unless you are going to piggy back it to a good working router for the WAN connection!!! IMHO isepiq |
