It's very true that accidents can happen, and every house is built differently. Its hard for the installers to know what is behind every wall since they were not there to see the walls built in the first place. I think it should be up to the builder to install a coax network inside houses these days. I have seen newer houses that have coax ran into every room, and connected to some equipment closet some where in the house with a dedicated line already ran outside. -- "Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall." - Confucius - - - - - - - - - - - Streamfire.net- - AIM - CoNFuCiUsNiCk |

In a house on the other hand metal shielding is not required by law the tech should have known that and came to the conclusion that maybe his drill wasn't drilling cause he was drilling in something undrillable instead of just forcing it in a getting it over whit -- And that my friends is what they say is..That! |

Well, I can tell you that my parents moved into a brand new condo which has what you are talking about... A equipment interface in the workroom... When the installer came to hook up their hdtv he said their splitter (brand new cable splitting device that was installed in the house) wasn't going to work and drilled through the wall and bolted on an UGLY wire and harness on the outside of the house. Sooooo... Sometimes the stubborn install guys don't want to 1. deal with homes that are wired for this type of stuff or 2. aren't competent enough to understand the system or 3. are lazy and want the easy "I drill through your house" option. -- Spare cycles??? |

technickPremium join:2000-12-16 Wheat Ridge, CO kudos:1 | reply to myhoes Again, not everything is wired and built the same. I installed DirecTV & DirecPC service for almost a year, and during training you learn not everything is built the same, and code varies from city to city. I would say that the installer probably is lacking some common sense, he should of covered the hole, and drilled some where else instead. -- "Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall." - Confucius - - - - - - - - - - - Streamfire.net- - AIM - CoNFuCiUsNiCk |
