couldn't believe the improvement it made and i was just using cardboard and tinfoil, unfortunatly i'm still bout 3 feet short!! its unreal!! i wonder if i used metal instead of tinfoli would it improve things?

Some laptop cards also allow connection of an external antenna.

If it's a laptop you are using, be aware they are quite sensitive to position (eg., screen can "shield" the card's antenna if between it and the router. The card's antenna is really small.

You might also experiment a bit with positioning of the router's antenna. The radiant pattern for a stick antenna is like a donut, with the stick going up through the hole. A bit of tilt may raise the strength enough at your PC, particularly if the PC is above or below the elevation of the router.

Failing that, ANAV's advice to invest in $10 of Cat-5 cable to move the router closer to the user is valid. i need a bit of advice, i recently got a D-Link DI-624 wireless router set up at home its all working fine except i need to extend its range, currently it goes half way down my hall.

lets say it goes 40 feet roughly well i just need it to go a further 10 feet, has anybody any ideas how i can do this or whats the best way to do it.
