Re: Washington get ready for Bedrock Try setting static DNS see if it resolves your issue. You're not affected by the earthlink issue. I believe that has been resolved. Otherwise I would say it's something on your computer and not Comcast. |

 | reply to Morty good catch - I had transposed octets
it's 24.144.179.0
I'll let it expire. Thx. |

weenis join:2001-08-18 Kirkland, WA | reply to abst2act Still no change to my IP, gateway or DNS here in Kirkland, WA. I (of course) left the router and modem on all night, etc. I have also noticed a marked decline in my speeds. It is 1914/227 kbps tonight.
Has anyone else gotten a similar 'upgrade?' |
|
 | Well the cross over has been "completed" officially.
All customer in Washington are now on bedrock.
Except those you haven't reset there modems like fools.
If you have any issues call customer care and get ready to be in line! There's a 5 day wait period for account rebuilds at the moment. Someone screwed up bad in the transition. They forgot about earthlink almost entirely.
There's also a bunch of outages and service issues.
Just hope you didn't get disconnected during the freeze on the weekend or now your F***ed!
But that's what you get for not paying. |
|
 | yea they f**ked up pretty good washingtion is all mess up and seattle is really messed. they should have just stuck with sas or perfected it. at least sas could be delt with. |
|
 | At least "bedrock" has some benifits.
Did you know the new program: A: Installs IEx 6.0 and Oex 6.0 automatically? B: Updates your NIC and usb drivers? C: Patches XP? D: Totally screws over people with reject modems and win 95/linux/mac/xbox/ps-2's? |

MortyPremium join:2004-09-18 | reply to abst2act Yes, I think all of those are clear in the FAQ I made, and in that format it won't cause flames like yours. |

Just stating the facts |

MortyPremium join:2004-09-18 | reply to nessaja Obviously you have never dealt with SAS before. The only problem with the WA cut-over was Earthlink. Any other problems were an after affect of trying to fix those problems, since DHCP is the problem you have to wait for the problems to expire. |

This is just not true, but yeah making up numbers is fun.
And no they didn't "forget about earthlink almost entirely" It was a problem with the DHCP server assigning mis-matched IP's. As I've said before you must wait for the problem to expire. You can't force people computer's to free up leases, otherwise you'll end with conflicts. The WA Earthlink market only contains about 35,000 customers ("Earthlink powered by Comcast") of which a small portion were affected. Problems occurred when trying to fix the original problem. Why do conflicts occur see above when I explained the lease problem. |

weenis join:2001-08-18 Kirkland, WA | reply to abst2act OK so can anyone actually answer my original question? I've reset my modem after the supposed upgrade and I am still getting intermittantly poor service and definately no upgrade along with a lack of new IP, etc. |

I just relaxed during all this, let Comcast do their job. No modem reboots, no disconnections, no problems I could detect. After the work they did on Sunday, this is all I noticed:
1. When the IP lease expired, it was renewed one time, but only for one day instead of the usual three days. Same configuration.
2. When that lease expired, it renewed for the usual three day lease. I now have different DNS servers, IP and gateway the same.
I am not, however, an "Earthlink powered by Comcast" customer. -- Team Helix Forum - Join Us? |

 | Just some info from near Lacey WA
i got the e-mail sayin the upgrade was gonna happen etc..
That night i could tell something changed cuz my firewall couldn't renew its ip address (much like others above) i decided not to break things that are not broken (since my internet still worked) and left everything the way it was.
Next day router still complainin about not being able to get an IP but i didn't so much care, bout midway through the day though comcast sent down a reset to my modem. (rca pos) which actually caused it to hang, but i powered it down/up again and everything is back to normal now. The DHCP msgs/errors ceased. right after that
I even kept the same ip address!
i know some people up near bothell that were not as fortunate and had random internet connectivity problems the next day (like ppl above) but it appears their issue was solved within a few hours or so. |

Re: Washington get ready for Bedrock People were unable to renew addresses as it was locked down while Comcast reorganised it's tables and resolved the issues once the fixes had been made the issues was resolved and you are able to release/renew as normal. |
|
 | reply to abst2act Bedrock is a Cisco based Provisioning System. Comcast replaced SAS because it needed to unify the provisioning system between the Classic Comcast footprint and the New Comcast footpring (Former ATT Broadband). |
