connection dropped

hello all,
I am a DSLI user, have been so for a few good years now and I'm pleased to say that the Internet connection has been very reliable. In the past 6 months or so, with the problem becoming more and more acute, I get disconnected more and more frequently, every time I receive an incoming land line phone call or I place an outgoing call.

DSLI says the line it's OK (which it is, when there are no calls placed on the line), Bellsouth says it's OK as well but I get disconnected every time I have a call through the line. This problem was not as bad many months ago but it seemed to have become worse and worse and now, I'm just ...."oh, there we go again, another incoming call, another dropped connection". I'm very frustrated and am contemplating going to cable because of this. I do have filters on the two lines connected to phones and no filters on the line going to the DSL modem.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

thanks much for any feedback.

Does the connection drop if the call comes in but you don't pick it up, or does it only drop once you pick up the call?

This sounds like a problem with one of the POTS filters going bad. It could be one or more. Any of those you have in your home, or the one in the CO.

I can't tell for sure; sometimes it happens at the end of the call, when the parties hang up, sometimes when the phone is picked up but possibly also when ringing.... it may be the POTS filters... I will check w/ Bellsouth; thanks a bunch guys for all the help

Sounds like the filters.

Try connecting your modem to the phone box outside, and making test calls.
