| To do so would be foolish! I doubt seriously that Microsoft would be so foolish. It would definitely be counter-productive. I'm sure they realize that to do so would likely disenfranchise them from even the most ardent Microsoft users. Their whole purpose of getting into the anti-spyware/adware business was to win back some of the trust that has eroded away over the past several years. To do so, would be like giving their endorsement to Linux!

And they did this because they're deriving some benefit either financial or otherwise from doing so? I am not that familiar with Weather Bug, but I would think that examining Microsoft's motives before accusing them of selling out, would be prudent. I can't imagine that the makers of Weather Bug could pay Microsoft enough to get them to do something unethical, but then again, maybe I'm wrong.
