Re: WoW for complete MMORPG beginners said by justin:8. don't bother grouping, or duel, at less than level 10 unless you want to be social. It just wastes time. As I got into the upper half of those first 10 levels (currently a level 8 mage) with some orange quests, grouping became helpful for me, even on collection quests. It's tough as one of the fragile classes to solo on something like a 10-armband quest. With zilch protection you have to skirt the mobs' territory until you can pick one off without attracting a crowd, and that's pretty time-consuming. Better to join a group with some muscle - then I can just hang back a little and blast from a safe distance. At the very least try to duo with a warrior or a paladin at a similar level.

- Try not to fat-finger the 'x' key when you're trying to retreat.
- That first quest to kill 10 kobold vermin? Level 3 kobold workers and warriors are NOT vermin, and they're a lot harder for a level 1 mage to kill.

 | reply to DoubleT said by DoubleT:Is it better to turn in a quest right away, or can it wait? It is better to turn it in right away due to the fact that the exp reward you get from it is based on your level relative to the quest level (if you get Cosmos UI (»www.cosmosui.org) it will tell you the level of the quest in your quest log).
For instance, I just turned in a level 6 quest on my 53 Shaman, and I got about 8 exp, whereas, if I was level 6, I might've got about 200. (the quest was for some Slumber Sand, to put mobs to sleep for 20 seconds, and I wanted some on my shaman!!)
Same thing applies for discovery/exploration exp. If you go discover a newbie land when you're level 40 or 50, it will give you like 4 exp. But if you were level 2 or 3, it might give you 30 or 40 exp.

| reply to tyler00 I use the program "SellValue", which keeps track of how much items sell for. Not all grey items are useless, like Rotting Bear carcasses sell for 1.5s or something. There are other beast items drops that turn up grey, but sell for 5s like the mottled raptor keen tooth. -- "I triple guarantee you, there are no American soldiers in Baghdad." - Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf, Iraqi Information Minister |

It could be for just below lvl 20, but the things that are worth keeping from the monsters you kill, and how much they sell to the vendor for. Like, for example a Dry Scorpid Eye I found sells for over 50 copper for one, meanwhile some like chain piece might only sell for 5 copper. Plus things to pick up when you're lower level to keep in the bank for when you are a higher level? Just a suggestion though! |

DoubleTPremium join:2002-04-09 Dallas, TX | reply to SaNDMaN_ But what if you have 3 quests to turn in, all yellow to you...you turn in the first two and level because of the XP from them. Now that last quest you have to turn in is now a green quest. Would you still get the same amount of XP for the quest that you would have if it had been one of the first two that you turned in?
I guess there's no real way to test that. I'd ask on the official forums, but the amount of garbage that gets posted on there is unreal, and legitimate questions get brushed aside rather quickly. -- A member of -The Outfit-. |

PhoenixDown-- Wants FIOSPremium join:2003-06-08 Fresh Meadows, NY kudos:1 | reply to justin Good question, I always thought that even if you completed a quest - if you didnt turn it in but leveled up afterward, the xp reward would go down.
For instance, if you look up a quest on Thott, it will say it gives been X and Y xp. If you completed it at level 10, you may get X but if you wait until 20, you may only get Y. -- www.pulsetoday.com -- marketing forums! |

DoubleTPremium join:2002-04-09 Dallas, TX | reply to justin I have a question that maybe someone can answer...
Is it better to turn in a quest right away, or can it wait?
For example, say I complete a quest at level 10, but for whatever reason I don't turn it in until level 12. Do I get less experience for turning it in later, even though I completed it 2 levels ago? Or does the 'clock' stop on the quest whenever it was finished and not lose any XP no matter when I turn it in? -- A member of -The Outfit-. |
