Re: [video] Killer Whale > Kayaker

My Qualification: None except I speak Korean.

The reason I'm posting:
The people taking the video are speaking in Korean, NOT Japanese. If it was some Japanese Powerade commercial produced to represent, Powerade, I HIGHLY doubt that they would have put bunch of Koreans to sound surprised, frantic, and then finally sound relieved at the kayaker having survived.

Unless the morons producing this commercial couldn't tell the difference between Koreans and Japanese and just pulled off the street the first Asian looking people that came about and paid them a box of Powerade to ad-lib what they were saying. So I highly doubt that it was a Powerade commercial destined for Japan, more like Korea which makes me believe that the www.snopes.com doesn't know what the hell they're talking about which could mean nothing except that snopes.com is not credible enough to debunk this video as they did.

That's all I gotta say.

I think the video is real footage of a Korean audience watching some kind of kayaking thing. One kayaker flips over, the crowd gasps and such, then gets back up and the crowd is relieved.

Super-impose video of a killer whale.

Could be a commercial destined for anywhere.

for whatever its worth ive seen lots of compositing and camera tracking in my career, and the quality of the video is too crappy to be sure. But it looks like it could be fake... The whale and the two kayakers look real, but the guy who gets hit was composited into the shot. There seems to be a slight tracking error early on in the shot, and the splashes he makes when he's resurfaced also look a little wierd...but honestly...it's too hard to tell at that quality...if they were gonna fake it, they wouldnt put the whale in, because it would be too much trouble...the original shot probably happened exactly the way it unfolds now, only they added the last kayaker.

i hope its real tho, cause its kinda cool

I live in San diego and they had a guy on the radio this morning from Sea World stating it is real and not the first time a whale has done this to a kayaker.

I live in San Diego too, actually. The radio station was 91x. Also, if you listened for 10 more minutes, they discovered the Sea World guy was a fraud. And about five more people called in and agreed with the PowerAde commercial explanation given above.

This was debunked a little while back on Snopes. It is a PowerAde commercial as has been said.

Video editing issues aside, who really thouhgt the whale landed on teh guy and didn't kill him?

I guess I should have stayed in the car instead of going in to work...
Thanks for the correction. FRAUD it is. But still a cool video, almost as good as the Great White eating a Navy Dive on the helicopter ladder.

The angle is wrong. The camera is much lower in relation to the water than in the original video.

adjust the window-size then you'll see.
if this doesn't help try comparing the splashers or the landscape or.....ooouuuuuch you got me
but good work though - more of that kind
